Perform paint processes on a variety of parts as directed. Assist in the operations of the shipping area and/or the handling of items prepared for shipment from the Paint Department as required.

Work from blueprints, manufacturing specifications and procedures, and work orders and oral instructions.

Prepare parts for paint by performing various operations such as washing, stripping, and masking to assure proper adherence and application of primers, anti-corrosives and similar protection coatings as required.

Brush, dip and spray paint a variety of parts, details and minor sub-assemblies as directed.

Remove scratches, corrosion or stains, or any other paint defect from product by such methods as polishing, buffing or burnishing.

Check and verify identification and count of material and check items for shipping.

Perform necessary operations to determine proper packaging of items and shipments in accordance with transportation codes and customer requirements.

Protect finished items using appropriate materials in accordance with transportation codes and customer requirements.

Operate material handling equipment as required.

Monitor and implement adherence to all safety and department procedures, practices and directives.

Read and interpret withholding tags.

Sign off all associated paperwork and submit work to inspection.

Know and utilize the current cost tracking system.

Bring to the attention of supervisor all malfunctions, defects, and damages of equipment, material and product.

Perform good housekeeping chores in area.

May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Maintain required documentation and records on paint mixing and paint application.

Use precision measuring instruments performing assigned quality tasks.

Job Knowledge and Educational Requirements:

Job knowledge requires vocational or similar training, including basic shop math to aid in the interpretation and the utilization of data from engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications and procedures.

Knowledge of shop routines and practices is preferred.

Basic knowledge of personal computers, including operating systems and file management is required.

High school diploma or an accredited GED. Experience:
