Job Title: Laboratory Technologist (Non-Certified) (GA) Shift: Sunday - Thursday, 7am - 3:30pmFLSA: OT Eligible Location: Atlanta Dept.: Lab Services Georgia Business Unit: QualTex-GA General Summary Responsible to perform laboratory testing assigned to the department. Recognize unusual test results and resolve discrepancies. Maintain knowledge of all current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required to perform effectively. Major Duties and Responsibilities Essential Tasks Competently perform all assigned departmental duties. May perform Pre-Analytical tasks [receipt, qualification, and preparation of samples for testing], CLIA waived tests, and moderate and/or high complexity testing on patient, donors, or biologic products using routine chemistries utilizing automated / semi-automated methods with internal support systems.Recognize and report unusual test results in a timely manner to appropriate management. Operate equipment utilizing established protocols and within quality control limits.Recognize equipment malfunctions and/or technical problems and take appropriate steps to resolve. Maintain strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Prepare and maintain reports/records and perform computer data entry. EducationRequires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work relative to thefield of assignment. The required major is Applied Science or equivalent. ExperienceNo prior specific work experience required. Prefer one year of laboratory experience. KnowledgeMust obtain a working knowledge of regulatory/quality requirements and perform within all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.Must have a working knowledge of basic laboratory techniques. SkillsMust maintain competency in laboratory skills for liquid and material handling.Must be capable of evaluating, interpreting and reporting accurate/valid test results.Must have strong computer skills.Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
