The Extruder Operator is responsible for processing products from non-complex color compounds in a safe and efficient manner, according to specifications and procedures. Responsibilities also include setting up, operating, and tending extruding machines used in processing products. The incumbent is expected to perform the job duties under the direction of the team leader or Level 2 co-workers.
Education:
High School diploma or GED required
Experience:
1-2 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing/production preferred
Skills:
Mechanical ability to process and troubleshoot equipment
Basic Math
Essential Duties:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Effectively operates and understands all required production equipment that include extruders, scales, feeders, classifiers, pelletizers, dies and tumblers
- Follows and clarifies processing specifications
- Cleans equipment for change-over process and new batches
- Performs product form evaluation
- Verifies proper product identification on finishing containers
- Determines causes of operation errors by troubleshooting
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment
- Moves finished material to proper location
- Safely operates power industrial vehicles
- Records processing specifications, labor hours
- Performs mathematical calculations
