-12 hour shifts. You will need to be flexible as to the shift on which you train as well as the start date of your shift.

Job Description

As a Finishing Packer Operator, you will be responsible for functions occurring within the Finishing operations that include packing, core cutting, and material handling. You may be assigned to duties that include: packaging slit rolls to customer specifications, operating the manual packaging line, cutting cores, banding, etc. This requires the understanding of Avery Dennison standard packaging practices and the Exact program packing requirements. This position may be required to rotate. This position requires that you learn the supporting functions of material handling and core cutting.

When Packing you will be responsible for:

  • Sorting, labeling and packaging finished goods for shipment, per customer specifications, quality requirements and standard practices.
  • Inspecting general appearance of finished product.
  • Keeping area supplied with necessary packaging materials.
  • Preparing cores for machine operators.
  • Communicating and coordinating necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations.
  • Tracking multiple orders being packed at one time.
  • Support inventory accuracy: Complete departmental packing cycle counts and correct discrepancies.
  • Assisting in equipment maintenance activities, as directed.

When Material Handling , you will be response to:

  • Move material to/from Finishing, Shipping, Receiving and manufacturing areas.
  • Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System.
  • Help manage winding drum and rack inventories.
  • Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets and other consumable supplies to/from production areas, as required.
  • Condense areas where finishing supplies are stored and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate department/shift employees to ensure effective operations.
  • Lead in the recycling of pallets, cardboard and scrap materials.

Core Cutter:

  • Print slitting diagrams
  • Cut 3" and 6" Cores for all Slitters
  • Retrieve, Replenish & Deliver Cores
  • Check Cores for Accuracy, Quality of Cuts & Adequate Quantity for Production
  • Dump blue bins at the end of the shift and when necessary
  • Dump recyclables daily
  • Operate trim compactor controls & follow operational procedures

  • Be able to obtain a Lift Truck Operator’s license and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity.
  • Participating in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities.
  • Performing all other duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe work area.
  • Performing 5S duties and audits.
  • Perform Forklift Inspection

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
