This position is for an Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator, Position Description Number D1528000 located in 116th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Robins AFB, GA. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Current members of the 116th Air Control Wing.ResponsibilitiesAs an Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator, GS-1101-11, you will: Responsible for the total squadron maintenance program, manages the overall direction of the maintenance effort, and enforces safe maintenance practices. Responsible for identifying, assembling, and managing critical equipment items. Support operational requirements, scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, and aircraft used for maintenance and/or operations training. Manage maintenance authority on airworthiness of aircraft based on knowledge of aircraft systems and safety of flight concerns. Ensure that a pilot pickup is accomplished for critical parts in order to expedite repairs of Not-Mission-Capable aircraft that receive the highest priority and depends on the critical need for the aircraft and its return to service. Verify Mission Capable (MICAP) requisitions. Participate in establishing the monthly and weekly maintenance plans. Attend the daily maintenance planning meetings for the purpose of incorporating unscheduled maintenance into the weekly and daily maintenance plans. Evaluate workload requirements and make changes to aircraft utilization schedules as required. Take prompt and decisive action to make on-the-spot adjustments to maintenance repair priorities necessitated by unscheduled maintenance requirements. Manage and coordinate maintenance activity on the flightline. Monitor aircraft maintenance in progress and evaluates estimated completion time against scheduling and planning requirements. Anticipate problems and direct changes of flightline activities in order to meet mission schedules. Coordinate with supervisors to select workers and assign tasks to be performed. Initiate action to resolve personnel shortages and coordinate requirements with the Maintenance Operations Center (MOC). Review work in progress or upon completion for compliance with policies and procedures. Ensure utilization of proper tools and equipment and adherence to technical data in performance of maintenance. Determine methods necessary to meet mission requirements including authorizing and directing cannibalization on assigned aircraft. Cannibalization actions will be coordinated with the MOC and Supply. Ensure aircraft status is accurately reported in accordance with Air Force instructions, reports, and applicable supplements. Work closely with the expediter and MOC to ensure that actual aircraft status matches the aircraft status reported in the automated reporting system. Understand, execute, and coordinate specific disaster control duties including the provisions contained Air Force instructions, with regard to movement of aircraft, support equipment, and evacuation of flightline personnel. Make decisions based on safeguarding personnel first, followed by protecting aircraft, equipment, and other resources. Maintain a current on-base disaster map with cordon overlay and appropriate checklists for use during disasters or exercises. Specialized Experience: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the business or industry position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.EducationIf you are using Education to qualify for this position: A maximum of 12 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for 12 months of experience. The education must have been in fields directly related to the type of work of the position. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims.
