The primary purpose of this position is to provide certified, accurate, traceable, and reliable TMDE(Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment) and support equipment to the warfighter in compliance with the Air Force Metrology and Calibration program.ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies, tests, calibrates, and certifies a variety of standard and nonstandard complex electronic test equipment.Coordinates efforts with technical and professional personnel on matters affecting equipment performance, test objectives, and calibration/certification reliability and effectiveness.Maintains records and documents actions.Provides advice and technical assistance to supported organizations.Uses and maintains toolsUtilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsIn order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/federal-wage-system-qualifications/#WG-2600 QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

Knowledge of operating electronic principles involved in the production and utilization of oscillations over a broad range of frequencies; the make-up, operation, and use of a variety of equipment such as microwave equipment, and the methods and techniques of precise measurement of electrical and electronic quantities and relationships.

Knowledge of calibration and certification principles in the field of Metrology, root cause analysis principles and application of calibration tech data principles in the field of Metrology.

Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Skill in tracing signals and voltage paths and in the analysis of waveform characteristics such as timing, duration, frequency, and phasing; and test set-ups to isolate malfunctions and check performance characteristics of special or unique test panels or mockups.

Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as drills, chassis punches, wrenches, soldering irons, and

microsoldering units to remove and replace circuit parts.

Ability to install major modifications to instruments and equipment; apply established techniques and methods of repair, testing, alignment, and calibration of equipment, and utilize electronic circuits to measure electronic or electrical quantities to determine the performance characteristics and accuracy of other instruments and equipment. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
