Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

A kennel technician provides daily care, feeding, and exercise to boarding and hospitalized pets. He or she pays close attention to pets’ status for signs of stress, changes in eating or elimination habits, and promptly notifies technicians and veterinarians when a pet needs medical attention. The kennel technician is responsible for the cleaning of the hospital and for providing a sanitary environment for clients and their pets. The kennel technician helps with post-operative patient care and assists doctors and assistants with animal restraint and exams. You will interact with clients in person and by phone. Proper record documentation and accurate completion of boarding forms and cage cards is critical. A kennel technician must pay close attention to details, understand and follow proper feeding and sanitation procedures and provide compassionate care to boarding and hospitalized pets.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
  • Proper methods of animal restraint.
  • Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
  • Perform moderately heavy physical labor (lifting large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc).
  • Abilityto sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
  • Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude team member
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
  • Weekend and holiday availability

Previous experience is strongly preferred.
