IT Technical Support Specialist (Laptop/Cellular Tooling) Global Fortune 100 company is looking for an IT Technical Support Specialist to support their technology field engineers. Role Summary / Purpose The Tooling IT Specialist is a hands-on role with ownership of solutions for IT engineering compute, site connectivity and other digital products deployed to outage sites from global tooling facilities. Essential Functions- Tooling Laptops (Windows Based)
- Develop and maintain standard laptop configuration, using business imaging tools and software
- Document build process for consumption of global tool center and field community
- Maintain hardware and software inventory; coordinate procurement
- Lead contributor to project, provide regular project updates, actively participate in meeting rhythm
- Liaise with global tool center and field users
- Respond to laptop/ software issues and remediate
- Site Connectivity
- Implementation of site connectivity solution
- Test and deploy site connectivity kits
- Maintain inventory
- Monitor site connectivity performance ( This is in development so not critical to know).
- Respond to and remediate issues
- Other IT Programs
- Contribute as required
- Moderate level of business travel (Domestic US only to customer outage sites for short duration (Several days at a time). Most likely Sep/Oct (peak outage season). Scope would involve setup of laptops and/or cellular connectivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong technical background with 3+ years of hands-on experience in IT Infrastructure
- Knowledge and experience of computer imaging and software installation (Acronis and in-house tools used but imaging experience dose not have to be with a particular vendor)
- Knowledge of configuring virtual machines in VirtualBox or VMware
- Knowledge of networking and cellular technology(General network understanding required. Cradlepoint and Peplink are shared technologies used. (These products can be learned)
- Positive character with "can do" attitude in times of change and adversity
- Ability to work autonomously, innovate, manage a large workload and deal with ambiguity
- Ability to include others on initiatives and work constructively within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills, confidence to lead and contribute on team conference calls
- Strong attention to detail, analytical acumen, intellectual curiosity, creativity, a proven work ethic
- Solid project management, planning /organizational skills in a matrix organization and at a regional level
- Knowledge of technology trends and strategies
