Qualifications

Solid understanding of residential home structures, materials and assemblies.

Experience in remodeling and new construction.

Proficiency in Chief Architect.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

Willingness to collaborate on subjective design projects.

Follow through and efficiency.

Timely communication.

Creativity.

Desire to learn and be challenged.

Familiarity with current building codes.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Applications.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in Drafting.

General Duties

Attend site measures and perform take-offs.

Participate in design meetings.

Collaborate in proposing new layouts.

Develop construction drawings acceptable for city permitting.

Produce residential construction drawings (elevations, floor plans, construction details, anchor plans, and electrical plans) complying with company drafting standards.

Utilize AutoCAD LT for production of drawings. Requires proficiency using AutoCAD and its commands and the ability to use such things as model space, paper space, layer management and XREF’s.

Proficiency in software including but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Buildertrend, RS Means, and Bluebeam preferred.

Maintain plan library and update drawings as needed per code changes, design changes, added options, added elevations, etc. Must follow defined Plan Maintenance/Revision Process.

Redline work performed by self and peers using defined redline process and accurately pickup redlines.

Ensure the consistency, neatness, and accuracy of plans produced.

Work with field construction staff, engineers, and building trades as needed.

Periodic and as-needed site visits may be encouraged or required.

Contact/correspondence with all levels of the organization during the new product release process and/or plan change release process.

May create or maintain various spreadsheets or drawings used/referenced by other departments including but not limited to Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, Land Development, and Executive Staff.

Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and nonverbally. It also requires understanding of all responsibilities of the drafting department and how they impact and filter through to the company as a whole.

Must be able to collaborate in the design process and is always encouraged to share ideas.

Research building codes, municipality requirements, developer design guidelines for architectural impact as part of new community due diligence.

Ensures that all drawings are released in complete and professional plan sets, formatted as required for effective internal and external distribution.

Resolve any plan issues and clarifications needed for construction and/or trade partners to execute plan as drawn.

Process change order requests when management approves, release and distribute revisions with urgency and focus to eliminate any plan version confusion for all parties affected by change.

Work with all departments to review and execute on plan change requests. Diligently distribute and communicate applicable plan revisions to all stakeholders impacted.

Identify opportunities to add clarity and consistency in construction documents, details, and assemblies.

Collaborate with Purchasing and Estimating personnel in resolving product specification, material sizing, sourcing, and availability concerns that arise as new product is bid and estimated.

Continually looking for opportunities to streamline processes, increase accuracy, provide consistency, and reduce cycle times within the architecture team.
