In support of the Director, Cargo Operations and Managing Director, Cargo; responsible for maintenance, advancement, and integration of the Safety Management System (SMS) within Cargo.

Responsible for daily management of the SMS electronic reporting process using WBAT to include incident report processing, attribute assignment, and interfacing with Safety and Security to conduct investigations as required.

Facilitate SMS working groups and support the Cargo SMS Safety Review Board. Assist in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.

Perform trend analysis, prepare reports, and present on findings as mandated by Safety Management Systems, GSIP, and other safety related programs. Act as the Cargo representative on the GSIP committee.

Work closely with Cargo Analytics and other Cargo personnel to track, measure, analyze, and audit the development, performance, and improvement of policies and procedures for all Cargo operations.

Coordinates activities of Cargo managers in evaluating safety program effectiveness, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Serves as the SME for Cargo SMS to recommend, create and lead safety initiatives within the Department. Coordinates with company Safety Department to integrate Cargo programs and align with company-wide goals.

Represent HA Cargo at industry and regulatory meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in a Safety, Quantitative, or Analytical discipline, or 3 years’ experience in analysis, safety management or related field or 2 years’ experience administering a Transportation SMS program.

Demonstrated ability in metric reporting and analytics

Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools

Superior analytical and communication skills with the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively across job levels and departments

Preferred Qualifications

3 years managing a Transportation SMS program

Experience in interpreting and applying federal regulations

Knowledge and demonstrated competency with SMS, and its supporting principles is highly preferred

Current (within 2 years) Airline Operations experience
