Aloha Affordable Veterinary Services in Aiea, HI is seeking a full-time veterinary assistant.
Duties will include:
- ability to work in a high volume surgical setting of mostly spay/neuters recovering pets by monitoring
breathing, heart rate and temperature
- ideally the ability to induce anesthesia under the supervision of a veterinarian, including intubation and surgical prep
- ability to perform laboratory diagnostics including cytologies and urinalysis
- experience drawing blood and placing IV catheters
- ability to properly administer, record and dispense prescription medications
- ability to learn laboratory diagnostics including urinalysis, skin/ear cytology and Abaxis lab equipment
- ability to run appointments including obtaining thorough histories, communicating estimates and treatment plans, and work alongside veterinarians
- ability to clean/sanitize clinic, surgical suite, kennels and exam rooms
- ability to care for hospitalized animals by feeding, cleaning, walking, etc.
- ability to restock inventory, clean/sanitize/wrap surgical instruments
Pay is based on experience, license and education: $15-$22/hour.
