Hilo SNF is looking for a Dietary Aide to help us with sourcing, locating, and recruiting talented, best qualified, and culture-add candidates who embrace Ohana's mission and values. Under the direction of the Dietary Supervisor or Dietary Manager, provides assistance in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance w/ established dietary policies & procedures.  Primary responsibilities include introducing guests to dietary services, room visits for meal preferences, and printing of meal tickets and production reports.  Other responsibilities include checking in and stocking deliveries, maintaining compliance with temperature and sanitation logs, and maintaining coffee and nourishment rooms.  Crossed trained as a diet aide and able to fill in on schedule as needed.  Supports meal tray service and meal tray delivery.  Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in the food service unit. 

Shift: Part-time (20 hours or more) and weekends required (7:00 am - 3:30 pm and 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm) or On-call, Day or Evening Rotating Shift (5:30 am - 2:00 pm and 11:00 am- 7:30 pm)

Potential to turn into a Full-Time role.

Duties include but are not limited: 

Prepares meals, nourishments & beverages in accordance with sanitary regulations as well as with our established policies & procedures. 

Serves residents meal trays in the dining area of their choice in a timely basis.

Check diet trays before distribution to ensure accuracy.

Transports meal carts to the units for residents who prefer to eat in their rooms. 

Serves food in accordance w/ established portion control procedures. 

Holds and serves "late" trays as needed. 

Cleans the work area and equipment in accordance with established policies & procedures.

Bus tables after mealtime has finished. Bring dishes and utensils to dish area to be washed.  

Pre-portions food & beverages in preparation for the next meal/tray service. 

Prepares and delivers between meal nourishments to the units.   

Prepares and serves employee meals as ordered. 

Assists with cooking and food production. 

Return clean equipment/supplies to the proper storage areas. 

Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies. 

Distribute menus as necessary. Reviews menu daily.    

Make recommendations regarding the purchase of needed equipment/ supplies.    

Assists with inventory and stocking of in-coming food service supplies & items as necessary.

Offers and serves meal substitutions authorized and in accordance with resident diet orders.   

Assists with food preparation for special food requests as submitted by other departments. 

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 

Experience in long term care, healthcare, or work with the elderly preferred. 

First Aid and CPR preferred. (can be done in-house).

Must have current medical/health screening including 2 step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
