Site Counselor
Position Location: Kailua/Kaneohe
Schedule: Tuesday Saturday, 8am -4:30

Hina Mauka brings hope, compassion and care through prevention, treatment and recovery oriented services to individuals, families and communities adversely affected by alcohol, or substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health issues and recovery challenges. Hina Mauka is one of the largest accredited substance abuse programs in Hawaii.
Hina Mauka seeks Substance Abuse Counselors to provide adolescent substance abuse treatment, and some prevention services, to adolescents.
Job Responsibilities
Provide the core functions of substance abuse counseling including screening, intake, assessment, treatment planning, group and individual counseling, family counseling, case management, education, crisis counseling, discharge planning, continuing care treatment and relapse prevention.
Provide substance abuse prevention services including screening, brief intervention, and activities.
Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with referral sources including the school staff.
Participate in outreach.
Assist at other sites as needed.
Create a safe and therapeutic environment for clients through the establishment of healthy norms and positive expectations for clients.
Education and Experience
Experience with adolescents and/or substance abuse
CSAC or Masters Degree preferred, but not required
Job requirements
Must pass a background check and be able to work with children
Must have transportation, submit driver's abstract, have a valid driver's license, and required insurance coverage to transport clients and to travel between sites.
Position is generally daytime hours, but will also include some evening work and occasional weekends
The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday. The position is primarily based in Kailua, with services in Kaneohe on Saturday.
Ability to work with a various populations, flexible, and positive
Computer skills such as familiarity with MS office programs and internet required.
