Lili’uokalani Center (LC):
Informed by a deep understanding of the adolescent experience and grounded in Hawaiian culture, the new LC will provide Hawaiian youth with opportunities to connect to peers and mentors, receive supportive services, and discover pathways to passion, purpose, and prosperity. LC will be LT’s signature youth development hub for culture, creativity, technology, and play, and will serve as a resource center where youth can connect to vital supports and a vibrant community. LC will be a safe space located in urban Honolulu where youth are inspired to pursue their dreams, including exploring pathways in the arts, sports, technology, and entrepreneurship while receiving wraparound support to help them reach their goals and become thriving adults. A primary function of LC will be to provide a space for young people to play, to learn, to find connection and inspiration, and to experience joy.
Currently under construction, LC is set to open in Spring of 2025.
Job Purpose
The role of the Facility Maintenance Lead (FML) is to maintain a clean, safe and overall efficient operation of the Liliʻuokalani Center facilities while promoting a child-centered environment for kamali’i, families, staff, and guests. The FML often works with outside contractors, and thus plays a vital role in communicating with others and demonstrating our organizational values. The position is also responsible for directing and coordinating ground and building maintenance functions of the Center including scheduling repairs and services to the facilities, grounds, and company vehicles.
Essential Responsibilities
Maintains and manages the cleanliness, upkeep and safety of the Center’s facilities, grounds, equipment, and vehicles by following standards and procedures while ensuring compliance with the organization’s policies, and governmental requirements and regulations.
Performs any and all routine, reactive and preventative maintenance and repairs for facilities.
Coordinates and Manages set-up and break down for LT and community-approved events.
Works with the end users and security team in coordinating the facilities day-to-day security such as ensuring the facilities are secured at the end of the day and providing after hour opening/closing for facility usage and report any suspicious and/or illegal activity on the Center’s property.
Provides supervision, direction, and training of additional maintenance staff (either internal or contracted) to support overall appearance and upkeep of facility.
Participate as needed in special projects as assigned by Facilities Director or senior leadership.
Responds to after hour emergencies and alarms.
Other duties:
Contributes to the Trust’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improves team and organization results.
Assists and plays pivotal role in the start-up of a new kamali’I focused innovation facility.
Ability to work a flexible schedule on an as needed basis.
Conducts or participates in ongoing facility inspections, maintains compliance with city, county, state, and any other Authority having jurisdiction codes
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least six years of related experience. One year team supervision preferred.
Skilled in the use and operations on the following systems: Electronic lighting control, HVAC Direct Digital Control, security surveillance cameras, electronic access control and other building automation systems.
Knowledgeable in the following systems: Elevator operations and maintenance, Parking lot control, commercial kitchen operation.
Skilled in occupancy start up, logistics, and support
Skill in using standard and industrial equipment.
Knowledge of basic gardening, landscape, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical procedures necessary.
Formal training in the safe use of hand tools, power equipment, commercial cleaning equipment practices and procedures preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA requirements, occupational hazards, and safety precautions of the trades required.
Ability to read and understand building blueprints plus operation and maintenance manuals.
Ability to work under minimal supervision and under pressure in demanding times.
Good verbal and written communications skills.

Travel Requirements
In alignment with our organizational competencies of Alu Like i ka Hana (Teamwork) and Hoʻomau i ka ʻImi Naʻauao (Continuous Learning and Improvement), this position will require occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state depending on the needs of the team and the organization. While travel may not always be a need, the ability to travel when required remains a crucial aspect of this position to successfully contribute to our concerted efforts to carry out our Queen’s legacy.
