Choreographer/Assistant to the Director

One of the hallmark programs at DHT is our performing arts troupe, The Shooting Stars. Comprised of Honolulu's most talented rising stars, the Stars mount an annual mainstage production and perform year-round at community events throughout Oahu. DHT is currently seeking a trained and experienced dance instructor/choreographer for the Shooting Stars program. The candidate will also function as the assistant to the Director.

Responsibilities:

Independently teach a combination of Jazz/Musical Theatre technique with a strong ballet base for levels beginning to advanced. Students range in age from 8 to 16 years old.

Assist the Director of the Shooting Stars program with scheduling other instructors, rehearsals, auditions and any and all program planning.

Requirements:

Prefer experience in managing and leading children's dance programs

Strong choreography skills a must

Ability to think outside the box, i.e. see performance spaces and modify routines to accommodate

Hours are part time, mostly weekends with some evenings: regular Jazz classes/rehearsals are typically Saturday afternoons for approx. 75 - 90 minutes, in a time slot between 1:00pm and 5:00pm. Additional rehearsals sometimes required before major performances.
