Primary Purpose

Develop and implement fundraising and marketing strategies and develop and implement a communications plan utilizing various forms of media to share the impact of the Foundation.

Essential Duties

In conjunction with Officers and Board, coordinate established and new activities pertaining to financial resource development including but not limited to programs for planned and annual giving, major gifts, matching gifts, endowments, bequests and capital campaigns. Plan and direct foundation and corporate solicitations and appeals;

Maintain a database, identifying donors for various giving programs. Assure confidentiality and accuracy of donor information. Coordinate direct mail and other fundraising campaigns. Analyze demographic and statistical donor data to assist in future solicitation planning;

Develop and coordinate a plan for donor recognition, retention, renewal and upgrade. Respond to donor concerns and requests. Implement programs to identify prospective contributors and cultivate major donors. Work with executive team and Board to solicit gifts from foundations, corporations, community organizations and selected individuals;

Work with respective program managers to help diversify program budgets;

Develop, direct, coordinate and manage special event fundraisers and analyze outcomes to present to executive team and/or Board;

Represent PIDF at community events as needed. Establish positive relationships with community leaders and organizations;

Supervise and work closely with Communications Coordinator and Communications Specialist to:

Ensure current, fresh website look, including ease of navigation, inclusion of pertinent resources, links, and up to date information;

Work with Communications team to manage and prepare copy, publications and reports, such as newsletters, annual reports, program brochures, press releases, and other collateral;

Ensure video/photo documentation of Foundations program events and other activities for dissemination as needed;

Prepare reports (verbal and/or written) to PIDF officers, management team and Board of Directors on communications plan progress, activities, and impact;

Work closely with Hui Nohona culture team to integrate and share cultural knowledge with staff, participants, and the public.

Other Duties

Other duties as assigned, include, but are not limited to:

Provide guidance to the individual programs on effective ways of communicating with the public;

Represent the Foundation during community projects and at public, social, business, and conference gatherings and document, as needed.

Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; or as otherwise determined by the supervisor;

Position requires regular and predictable attendance;

Flexibility required as some evenings or weekends may be required.

Working Conditions

Work at administrative office(s) and attend events, program events or operations, or meetings off site;

Occasional travel to the neighbor islands and the Continental U.S. may be required.

Equipment Use

Personal vehicle, and any and all general office equipment such as computer, phone, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, camera (still and video), and audio equipment.

Mental, Physical, and Communication Demands

Mental:

Consistent adherence to the practice of PIDFs five core values that are used as a guiding force in the success of all of its programs;

Must be able to work independently and interact harmoniously with others in close quarters;

Must be mentally and physically able to work in conditions that are the norm for those being served, i.e. poverty, homelessness;

Must possess strong interpersonal skills;

Must possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;

Must be able to focus, multi-task and possess keen attention to detail.

Physical:

Must be able to perform duties at desk/computer for extended periods of time;

Must be able to stand, sit, kneel and bend;

May require occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.

Communication:

Must exhibit courteous and professional demeanor towards program participants, staff, administration, other agencies and general public via verbal, written, physical, and electronic correspondence;

Must be able to communicate effectively:

In writing as indicated by the needs of the audience;

Orally to effectively convey information and solicit requests;

Respond to inquiries in a timely manner;

Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Bachelors degree in public relations, communications, marketing, business administration or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in working in the area of public relations, communications or, marketing;

Must be proficient in using Mac and PC computers, Microsoft Office, Adobe, Publications Software and Applications as well as database management;

Must be proficient in social networking skills, website monitoring and updates, Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Linkedin/Other, YouTube/Vimeo/Other;

Experience, coursework or other training in fundraising principles and practices;

Knowledge of Hawaiian culture and basic Hawaiian language preferred;

Must have access to a vehicle, have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record, and current no-fault auto insurance, with at least $100K in bodily injury liability per person and $25K in property damage liability.

Preferred:

More than two years work experience in Hawaii in major gifts or other direct fundraising experience or equivalent with a demonstrated track record;

Experience in Communications and Development in a nonprofit environment;

Working knowledge of current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving.
