Resident Monitor/Security, full time position

The YWCA O'ahu's mission is empowering women and eliminating racism. We have 3 locations on Oahu. This position is at Fernhurst Residence, a place of shelter, safety, and hope for women. This 42-unit, 3 story building features two programs: work furlough and transitional housing. These programs are designed primarily for women transitioning from prison to the community. There is 24-hour coverage by security/resident monitors (this position). The Resident Monitor/Security overall responsibility is to maintain the safety, security, and accountability of the Fernhurst Residence with an average of 30 women, plus staff and visitors at any given time.

First, you will need the heart for empowering women. Secondly, you will need the skill to assist with the safe operation of the facility and its residents (extensive training will be provided). Thirdly, you will need strong personal boundaries and be able to stay calm under pressure.

As a Resident Monitor/Security a typical day might include some of the following:

Maintain facility security during your shift

Conduct walk-throughs, inspections and resident counts

Orient new residents to the facility

Maintain all appropriate logs and forms regarding resident locations

Report all violations to the Case Manager and/or Director

Drive a 15-passenger van

Help with meal preparation

Collect urine analysis sample from resident(s) in keeping with policy (you will receive training on protocols for this duty)

Dispense medications to residents (you will receive training on protocols for this duty)

You will be working with a shift partner so you will not be on your own. There are 3 shifts per 24-hour period; morning/day shift, afternoon/swing shift, overnight shift. You will need to flexible, willing to provide coverage when needed (unscheduled) and be willing to work whatever shifts you are assigned.

Training for this position includes First Aid and CPR certification, as well as training in all job duties and related information. Benefits include medical/dental/vacation, free parking, and being part of a team that is making a difference in our community!

This position spends approximately 85% of the time on monitoring residents, doing paper work, maintaining electronic/Microsoft word daily log, other documentation as required, and 15% of the time doing meal service supervision and other related duties (depending on shift/sharing with shift partner.
