Hawai'i Island Home for Recovery, Inc. (HIHR) is a 501c(3) non-profit focused on housing homeless and chronically homeless individuals on Hawai'i Island. HIHR programs include permanent supportive housing, transitional housing, and food pantry assistance.

HIHR is currently hiring for both full-time and part-time Case Managers. HIHR Case Managers must communicate with local community and external agencies to provide coordinated care; document participant goals, individualized service plans, and outcomes; ensure that data and files are entered accurately; be able to perform job duties in accordance with the Housing First approach including: Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Assertive Engagement, Stages of Change, De-escalation, and Active Listening.

HIHR Case Managers must have experience in catering to those experiencing homelessness, chronic illness, mental health issues, and substance abuse addiction. Applicants should be aware that working with such a vulnerable population may involve: violence and threats of violence; profane, racist, and sexist language; bodily fluids; interactions with First Responders; friends/family dynamics with program participants; alcohol and other street drugs; and/or other situations that may be considered unsettling. Those in the position should reasonably expect these types of things to occur and the Case Manager must provide appropriate direction and support to these situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services or related field

Two years of related work experience

Current driver’s license

Personal vehicle with current safety check, registration, and insurance coverage

Fluency in MAC OS and the Microsoft Office Suite

Availability to work occasional evening and weekend shifts

Ability to be First Aid/CPR certified

Ability to climb up and down stairs on a regular basis

Ability lift and carry 40 pounds for short distances
