P.A.R.E.N.T.S., Inc. is seeking a part-time Parent Educator to facilitate group, community-based parenting education classes to further our mission of strengthening families and promoting cycles of positive parenting. Each parenting class is once per week and sessions are 2-3 hours long. Parent. Schedule requires flexibility as classes can be daytime, evenings and/or weekends. Parent Educators can facilitate anywhere from 1 to 3 classes per week. Must also attend staff meeting once a month.
The Parent Educator is responsible for facilitating the parenting classes through the instruction and application of agency-approved curriculum and approved classroom management techniques.
Parent Educators must work cooperatively and effectively with the Management and Administration, co-workers and program participants in providing quality assurance for programs; have the knowledge, skill and ability to work with a wide range of individuals, community groups and systems of care. Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, trustworthy, and able to work without direct supervision; and adhere to all company policies and contractual requirements. Paperwork requirements must be met on or before established deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related field, from an accredited institution; and a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with parents/caretakers who harmed or threatened to harm their children and children who experienced harm or were threatened with harm, and who experienced trauma and loss.
Preferred: Additional experience working with domestic violence, substance abuse and permanency issues.
Must be willing to travel to all areas of East Hawaii. Must retain appropriate levels of insurance as mandated by agency and/or contractual requirements. Must be proficient with MS Office products, including Word and Excel. Applicants must be able to pass required background checks.
Due to contractual requirements, applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements will not be considered for this position.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The part-time hourly wage for this position is $16 - $23 per hour.
