Position Summary:

Provides strategic direction and leadership to all of Pacific Courier’s operations island-wide. Reports to the Vice-President and ensures that PCI achieves its short and long-term revenue growth and profitability goals. Directs and coaches the management staff in the Hawktree management philosophy. Facilitates client retention, service expansion, and delivery of quality services. Ensures operational productivity, profitability and potential are maximized.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensures the delivery of high quality customer service through regular contact with clients; evaluates service quality and initiates corrective action as necessary.

2. In conjunction with Vice President, the General Manager will establish budgets and strategic plans to accomplish company objectives for growth and profitability.

3. Maintains financial integrity, security, and control at all times; Report any concerns to the Security Director and/or Vice President to ensure that exceptions or deficiencies are resolved in a timely manner.

4. Participates in risk assessments (technology, environmental, and operating/procedural risks) both internal and at customer facilities in conjunction with department operation manager(s), Security Director and Vice President.

5. Analyzes operational and financial indicators to continuously improve division performance; ensures profitable operations with full profit and loss accountability for the division.

6. Establishes metrics for key areas of measurement and hold teams accountable to achieve or exceed these goals.

7. Ensures that each division maintains a consistent focus on high quality customer service and production; provides guidance and support in the retention of profitable business.

8. Coaches and develops management team; ensuring well qualified individuals who are properly trained to carry out the company’s mission.

9. Directs implementation of best demonstrated industry and company practices.

10. Assists in business plan and budget development; monitors progress against short- and long-term business objectives.

11. Evaluates industry and business trends for potential impact and growth opportunities.

12. Assists clients and potential clients in understanding the full range of company products and services; negotiates client contracts.

13. Maintains a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures; acts to ensure that staff members understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

14. Establishes and implements departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with executives and staff members as necessary.

15. Implements and provides input to company initiatives; promptly and effectively resolves operational issues.

16. Understands and complies with the following policies and procedures as described in new hire orientation, annual re-training programs, and any other policies or procedures as identified and deemed necessary:

o Sexual Harassment & Workplace Violence

o Work Injury Prevention

o Drug Free Workplace

o Company House & Safety Rules

17. Complies with all Federal, State and local laws as applicable to the scope of their duties and responsibilities.

18. Maintains good personal hygiene and a professional appearance at all times.

19. Performs additional functions, duties and specific tasks of a similar nature and scope in order to achieve assigned business objectives as necessary or assigned by the President.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Science or Administration and 5 years of related experience

Or 10 years of related experience

Other Qualifications

Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal and credit background check.

Required to complete multiple priorities with time-sensitive deadlines.

Work under minimal supervision and high-pressure environments.

Need strong supervisory skills and be able to apply logic and reasoning to solve complex and analytical problems.

Use sound judgment and discretion in performing work duties.

Must understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

Excellent Computer skills (Microsoft Office required).

Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, systems, and objectives.

Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making.

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

Ability to counsel/discipline personnel as requested or as may become necessary.

Ability to delegate authority, responsibility to other staff personnel as deemed necessary to perform their assigned duties.

Ability to handle information in a confidential manner.

Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.

Possess strong interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of executives, management, employees, vendors and clients.

Possess excellent decision-making skills with quick responsiveness to customers.

Requires long periods of sitting at a desk, speaking with various individuals, frequent use of computers and other clerical equipment.

Must provide own automobile for time-sensitive off-site business meetings with clients, etc.

May be required to assist with company-wide activities associated with the Company’s community service initiatives.

Requires lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, climbing in and out of operating equipment.

Experience

Direct experience in Financial Management, Quality Management and Risk Management.

5-10 years Proven strong leadership and communication skills

Work Hours

Work week is Monday through Friday, however, schedule requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays as business needs arise. Must be available on an on-all basis, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
