POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, maintains proper liaison with existing customers and develops new accounts in order to achieve company goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for adhering to all safety practices and procedures while performing tasks in all work areas.

Keeps Management apprised of general business conditions in the market area, competitive price trends, and unusual circumstances that may influence and/or affect the companys sales operations.

Plans, organizes and schedules sales calls to service existing accounts; develops new accounts through aggressive sales techniques.

Maintains product knowledge by attending seminars and trade shows, meeting with supplier representatives, and by reviewing literature.

Introduces new products through demonstration, and explanation of usage and application rates in order to gain customer acceptance.

Receives and investigates customer complaints regarding problems with company products and/or services, analyzing data to determine probable cause.

Ensures that all sales are made in conformance with governmental agency regulations.

Provides technical assistance to office staff in order to develop their familiarity with products distributed by the company.

Services order requests, reviews delivery tags for accuracy, supplies product technical and safety information to customers, advises customers of product changes and recommends appropriate products.

Maintains an adequate inventory by reviewing product requirements, requesting supplemental purchases, and providing sales forecasts.

Assists in developing customer sales programs & merchandising at customer locations.

Maintains customer sales levels for all assigned accounts.

Increases customer sales revenues by selling new products and obtaining sales by taking business away from the competition.

Able to conduct field trials for product evaluations or bid qualifications.

Calls on customers on a regular schedule.

Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Three to five years of previous sales experience required.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Excellent knowledge of the commodities distributed by the company.

Self-motivated with demonstrated sales skills.

Working knowledge of governmental regulations governing the handling, storing, and transporting of hazardous products.

Valid drivers license.

High school diploma or equivalent; college degree is preferred.

Excellent time management skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 lbs.

Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

Ability to drive a vehicle without any physical limitations.

COMPLIANCE EXPECTATIONS

Responsible for adhering to all safety practices and procedures while performing tasks in all work areas.

Responsible to maintain safety and security of BEI Hawaii facilities by following the established rules, policies and practices of environmental, health, safety and security.

HUMAN RELATIONS AND SUPERVISION

Daily interaction with customers.

Daily interaction with all branch personnel.

Occasional interaction with personnel at other branches, as well as those in the Distribution and Accounting Departments.

Occasional interaction with suppliers and vendors.

This position does not supervise others.

FINAL DECISIONS

Determines own work schedule in order to accommodate sales calls to existing and potential customers.

Determines which products to recommend to customers based on their individual needs.

Imparts suggestions and concerns to company management.

IMPACT

Excellent customer service, such as attention to detail and timely response, impacts customer relations and their perception of the companys dependability and credibility.

Understanding and knowledge of commodities distributed by the company helps ensure that the correct products are recommended to meet each customers individual needs.

Understanding and knowledge of related government regulations ensures company compliance.

SALARY + COMMISSION

Will be provided with current book of business, but expected to bring in new business as well.
