SummaryYou will serve as a ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR in the TRANSPORTATION DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.ResponsibilitiesYou will adjust equipment attachments (e.g., rollers, scarifies, scoops, digging, loading bucket chains, grader blades, bulldozer blades) for optimal use.You will operate heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications.You will operate engineering or construction equipment in a reliable and safe manner.You will steer equipment using clutches, levers, brakes, or valves according to the slope or tilt.You will maneuver equipment in confined areas to avoid damage to equipment or surrounding area.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsAlthough a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION You must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Assisting in operating engineering equipment such as graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, etc.; 2) Constructing various surfaces such as breaking new ground for trails, roads, airfields, or other construction site; and 3) Developing the site for the air curtain burner to ensure safe operation. NOTE: This experience must be clearly and fully supported in your resume.
