Example of DutiesThis position includes:Inspections: Inspectors conduct inspections of licensed establishments, facilities, and vocational institutions for compliance with federal and state safety and sanitation requirements. This includes planning inspections and conducting on-site inspections related to individual and establishment/facility licenses; evaluating procedures and processes and inspecting equipment and facilities for safety and sanitation requirements; use check sheets to document violations; prepare basic reports regarding deficiencies found in non-passing inspections; explain licensing laws and rules verbally and in writing to licensees; recommend acceptable safety and sanitation methods to ensure compliance with governing laws and rules.

Administrative duties: Incumbents maintain detailed inspection records and may make presentations on licensing laws and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsExperience:conducting on-site inspections and preparing reports relating to inspections;

interpreting, applying and explaining laws and regulations;

using basic office related computer programs.

Valid driver's license.Preferred QualificationsCurrently hold or have held a barber, cosmetology, or nail technician license.

Supplemental InformationInspection activities include planning, organizing, and conducting inspections of establishments and facilities licensed under the professional and occupational licensing acts. Work involves daily travel.
