Job Description
Norco is currently seeking an individual to fill our Safety Manager position. The Safety Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining an effective safety program and culture within Norco. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop, maintain, and execute an Annual Safety Plan (ASP). The plan shall be reviewed and approved by Norco Executives and should identify safety priorities, measurable indicators, and communication plans for all initiatives aligned to the program
Develop and maintain a Driver Safety awareness program. Program to include Smith Safety Driving Program, or an equivalent engaged training program, for necessary employee drivers at Norco
Organize and manage the company Safety Committee
Organize and develop leadership safety training for Regional Vice Presidents to ensure Norco has a consistent Safety Culture across the company
Recommend corrective and/or disciplinary action as needed for store or plant locations operating inconsistently with the desired Safety Culture
Perform internal safety audits of Norco facilities and report results
Investigate and document all accidents and incidents involving Norco personnel and/or equipment
Monitor safety compliance and report accidents, incidents, and near misses to all levels of management
Identify potential hazards and recommend solutions to eliminate or reduce the risk
Prepare policies and procedures that establish a safety culture within Norco
Oversee the OSHA and EHS compliance of all Norco branches
Lead, train, develop, and motivate all team members in a safety based approach
Budget and request approval of departmental expenditures
Interprets customer expectations and requirements and is responsible for company data in compliance sites such as ISN, Browz, Avetta, and eRailSafe
Participate in insurance captive risk control workshops
Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary
Qualifications
Four-year college graduate, preferably with a technical degree
Five years safety management experience in a similar business environment
Familiar with ISO 9000 series standards
Ability to set up and perform basic algebra as well as a basic understanding of statistics
Ability to effectively supervise and manage personnel
Ability to accurately enter data into computers and acquire a working knowledge of any software applications necessary to the position
Thorough understanding of OSHA, EHS, DOT, FDA, and other applicable state and federal regulations
Previous knowledge of cylinders and gases
Ability to fill in for other team members in their absence
Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
