YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir immerses children in a community where making friends is natural, exploring new interests is encouraged, and discovering inner strength is guaranteed. YMCA Camp teaches self-reliance, instills a love for nature and the outdoors, and builds character and leadership”all amidst the fun of camp fires, canoeing, archery, friends, zip-lining, paddleboarding, mentorships, ropes course, and so much more. YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir is positively the best way to change a childs life.

Youth Camp CounselorsÂare responsible for planning, leading, and implementing Youth Camp programs for children ages 7-12 in a resident camp setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. Each counselor is responsible for one cabin group of 6-12 campers. All YMCA employees are expected to model and teach the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Starting Wage Range:

$300 - $324 p/week plus room and board

Key Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment. We will consider 17-year-old applicants who have completed the YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir leadership program. Experience in camping and outdoor recreation is preferred. Must have the knowledge and skill in working with youth and teens in a positive leadership role and be able to provide guidance and instruction. Must be able to keep an inventory of equipment and upkeep of equipment. Must be able to assist with the management of campers and keep up with the assignment of camp activities. Must obtain CPR certification prior to first day of camp.

Physical Requirements:Â

Job requires ability to walk, stand, sit (including on the floor), bend, lean, and kneel in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must have ability to lead and participate in physically strenuous activities in a high altitude outdoor wilderness environment.Â

Schedule Requirements:

This is a seasonal position from June 2nd “ August 9th. Typical camp schedule will be Sunday - Friday. Occasional Saturdays will be required. All camp staff receives a 24 hour time off period every 7 days. Must be able to live at YMCA camp facilities in Cascade, Idaho during program delivery times.
