Job Description

Norco is currently seeking an individual to fill our Area Safety Manager position. The Area Safety Manager is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining safety program and culture within Norco.Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Safety Manager in executing Annual Safety Plan (ASP)
  • Work with local leadership to maintain a Driver Safety awareness program
  • Participate on the company Safety Committee
  • Work with local leadership to ensure a consistent Safety Culture across the company
  • Perform internal safety audits of Norco facilities and report results to the safety manager
  • Investigate and document all accidents and incidents involving Norco personnel and or equipment
  • Acts as point of contact for employees with Workers’ Compensation claims and coordinates with Human Resources to support claims management
  • Monitor safety compliance and report accidents, incidents, and near misses to management
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend solutions to eliminate or reduce the risk
  • Ensure all store and plant operations are performed in a safe manner and according to Norco procedures or to manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Oversee the OSHA and EHS compliance of all Norco Branches
  • Ensure all personnel are trained in applicable Norco safety procedures and policies
  • Assist Team Members in identifying improvement projects, and new methods, solutions and/or procedures that addresses root causes of safety incidents
  • Lead, train, develop and motivate all team members in a safety based approach
  • Document procedures as necessary
  • Participate in insurance captive risk control workshops
  • Overnight travel required to manage territory coveringWashington, Oregon, Northern Idaho and Montana with occasional travel to other locations
  • Position may require work and travel responsibilities outside of normal business hours.

Qualifications

  • Four-year College graduate, preferably with a technical degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety with one year experience with a comparable EHS program, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with three years’ experience with a comparable EHS program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • ASP certification preferred or will acquire soon after employment
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Excellent math skills, including the ability to set up and perform basic algebra. A basic understanding of statistics
  • Strong verbal and written communication, marketing, presentation, interviewing, training and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills
  • Familiar with ISO 9000 series standards
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA, EHS, DOT, FDA and other applicable state and federal regulations
  • Previous knowledge of cylinders and gases preferred
