Simplot Company is a true farm-to-table company with operations that touch every aspect of agriculture, including seed production, farming and ranching, plant sciences, fertilizer manufacturing, food processing, commercial product development, and distribution.SummaryThis role manages and coordinates both short-term (13-week) finite production schedules and long-term (24-month) S&OP Supply Plans for all Simplot produced potato products. Manages 4 exempt level Master Production Schedulers and one Planning Analyst who are responsible for 5+ production plants and all the business activities which go with scheduling. This includes working with Demand Planning, Production Managers, Purchasing Managers, and Packaging Engineers. Plans, organizes, and provides leadership to the team. Develops procedures to meet goals and objectives set forth by Food Group and the J.R. Simplot Company. The role also provides management support in problem solving where initial plans may not meet business objectives. This role monitors and supports operational execution to plan and adjusts short-term plans to maximize the Supply and Demand match. This role includes actively managing and participating in the S&OP process and provides strategic insight into optimizing the Supply Chain.Key ResponsibilitiesManage the creation of the 13-week tactical supply plan for manufacturing plants through the analysis of capacity, demand, sales performance, component availability, cost (operational, warehousing, logistics, etc.), inventory targets, and other key variables.
Mange the planning, design and conduct all monthly S&OP Pack Plans using mixed integer data models (including pre-planning and post-planning review meetings), that will form the basis of the crop sanctioning, annual budget and LRP processes across all segments of the business.
Perform analytical quantitative and data mining assignments as agreed with leadership to further develop tools to support S&OP and Supply Chain initiatives that are complex and unique in nature on an ad hoc basis.
Lead direct reports. Provide strategic direction, training, development, constructive feedback, and ongoing leadership to team members.
Provide management and leadership regarding planning software and tools to ensure we continue to derive the optimal plans and schedules to meet our changing business needs. Maintain integrity between the monthly and weekly scheduling arena ensuring all rules and production metrics are updated on a timely basis to ensure plan implementation.
Provide management for the resolution of plan infeasible solutions and provide feedback through the S&OP process on manufacturing limitations and opportunities.
Typical EducationBachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or universityRelevant Experience5+ years related experience and/or trainingOther InformationMust understand and have experience with plant capacities, demand planning and Inventory control. Interaction skills are paramount within this position.
