CNC Programmer

We are looking for a full-time, CNC Programmer to work in our beautiful Idaho facility.

Summary:

Operates and programs 3 Fadal CNC machines, utilizing Surfcam computer aided manufacturing (CAM) system, g-code editing software and peripheral equipment. Machines tooling for thermoforming, packaging, trim dies and other tooling. Coordinates the most efficient way to manufacture the tool.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Programs 2-3 axis NC tool-paths when required, and operate multiple CNC milling machines (Fadal)

Programs CNC machines using Surfcam software

Studies and follows blueprints of parts, die, mold, and computes specifications for production.

Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock to lay out for machining.

Inspects visually all dies, molds and prototypes for standard quality conformance.

Consults with CAD/CAM designer/programmer to determine design, quality standards, and customer expectations as necessary.

Makes recommendations on how to program tool-path strategies for the most efficient and cost-effective way to process a tool along with maximize cutter utilization.

Sets up and operates Fadal CNC machines and support equipment such as grinder, sand blaster, band saw, drill, manual mill, sample-maker, jig saw, and assorted hand tools.

Records and maintains accurate time logs and other department documents as necessary.

Actively participates in work teams and in the company and departmental continuous improvement process

Monitors, assists, and mentors machine trainees or back-ups.

Reads measurements using precision tools.

Operates computer system utilizing MS-DOS and other Windows based operating systems.

Make program edits at machines that do not require extensive CAD/CAM editing or changes in design.

Make program edits to speeds and feeds for efficient production running.

Write edit sheets of CAD/CAM programmers to correct program errors or suggested changes.

Does preventative maintenance on machines as needed and notifies management when technical service is needed.

Maintain accurate tooling inventory of all cutters and drills etc. for Die Shop machines including tool life.

Maintains a neat and orderly department implementing good housekeeping practices on a daily basis.

Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 years related experience and/or training, including intermediate machine operations, CNC and NC programing, as well as setting up and operating Fadal CNC machines or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
