We are looking for a compassionate team member to join us in championing access to early childhood education and economic mobility through our Refugee Childcare Business Development Project. The RCBD Project Specialist provides direct support and outreach to emerging and existing refugee family childcare entrepreneurs for the purposes of providing financial, marketing, and operations consulting, and other technical assistance. The Project Specialist plays several key roles, including client relationship manager, client file developer, progress tracker and training calendar assistant coordinator. This position visits with clients in their homes on a regular basis to implement strategies that will maximize effectiveness in achieving project objectives, all while providing outstanding customer service.

The Project Specialist is an important member of the Economic Opportunity Team. This part-time position is eligible to participate in Jannus benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, vacation, sick leave, and a generous retirement plan.

PROJECT SUMMARY:

Refugee Childcare Business Development (RCBD) is a core project of the Economic Opportunity (EO) program within Jannus, Inc. RCBD empowers refugee women to become self-sufficient and thrive while providing a much-needed service in the Boise area “ affordable, nurturing, multi-cultural childcare for all ages. RCBD has helped launch over 100 local childcares, creating more than 2,000 affordable licensed childcare slots. RCBD is a key piece of broader programming under EO.

EOs mission is to create wealth equity for individuals and families in the Treasure and Magic Valleys through complementary programming across five different EO service areas:

Micro-business development

Consumer and business lending

Credit education and coaching

Refugee Childcare Business Development

Young womens and mens mentoring programs

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Proficient computer skills using programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher required;

Personal qualities of integrity and reliability;

Successfully self-manages time and deadlines easily on their own;

Wholeheartedly committed to professionally operating from an intersectional perspective towards eradicating poverty;

At-ease in a resource-limited environment, flexible, able to change direction quickly and execute tasks through both ambiguity and constant change;

Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail;

Demonstrated willingness and ability to adapt services based on needs of diverse clientele;

Must have reliable transportation for outreach and client visits, a valid drivers license and be able to provide a copy of State mandated liability insurance;

Preferred: lived experience as an immigrant or refugee;

Preferred: proficiency in English and Swahili;

Preferred: experience with coaching and/or empowering individuals;

Able to pass a criminal history background check;

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Associates or bachelors degree in business, early childhood education or relevant work, volunteer or lived experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works in general, shared office space environment with frequent site visits to client homes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to tolerate heat and cold, and to drive to client and community partner businesses in varied weather conditions. Sitting, standing, walking, driving, repeated hand and wrist motions (for computer use) are required. Required to lift up to 35 pounds.
