Scandinavian Designs is a home furnishings destination rooted in our love for modern design and quality craftsmanship. We are looking for a part-time (24 hours/week) Visual Merchandising Associate in our Boise, ID location. Our Associates are passionate about design and quality products and are committed to providing exceptional service.
-Create inspiring and functional room settings, and compelling merchandise presentations for your store.
-Work with design specifications and direction to maximize sales potential and support our advertising, marketing, and on-line promotions.
-Educate our in-store staff about effective merchandising and display techniques.
-Draw /sketch designs to illustrate your ideas and vision.
-Optimize store space and layout; keep all displays current.
-Emphasize correct stocking direction, signage placement and perform general display maintenance.
-Check for inventory, perform occasional assemblies as needed and work hands-on setting up displays.
-Work across roles, as part of a team in the showroom, office and warehouse - anywhere your efforts are needed.
Qualifications:
-A Degree in Design or related field is preferred, and we welcome applicants who bring their love of design, retail experience and display expertise to the team.
-Successful associates have a wholehearted customer service approach with a professional and welcoming presentation.
-Able to articulate knowledge of current trends in home furnishings, fashion and culture and apply imagination and creativity in each aspect of your role.
-Knowledge and use of color and design concepts.
-Organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to illustrate ideas and concepts by drawing and sketching.
-Competency using Microsoft Word and Excel; skill in Auto CAD is a plus.
-Ability to read and understand floor plans.
-Able to use hand tools (hammers, drills, and levels), ladders and lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted.
-Valid drivers license and insurance.
-Able to successfully complete our pre-employment background check.
