Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a DevOps Software Engineer to work in our Information Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.You will report to the Manager of Application Delivery Services and engineer effective solutions that integrate security, speed and reliability into the development and delivery of software applications and services by applying your experience in software development, server administration, application hosting, process automation and cyber security.Responsibilities Include:

Apply software engineering, server administration, cyber security, application hosting, and process automation principles, theories, and concepts to provide solutions for a variety of environments and application hosting needs.

Plan, develop, and implement solutions to complex automation problems and major projects: Maintain and upgrade a variety of application delivery and hosting environments.

Work to support project plans and requirements, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates for design and development activities.

Participate in technical reviews for projects at various phases of development and provide recommendations for computer technology solutions to customers and management’s needs and document activities, reports, and existing technologies.

Create and review new methodologies and architectures that advance the organizations’ mission and build security into the process of application development and delivery.

Ensure compliance with INL’s safety, security, environmental, health and quality assurance requirements.

Write and present technical papers representing the INL.

Review and analyze source code and system design documentation, reports from users, and other technical artifacts to create reports and present to other staff and management assessments of code quality, the probable origin and implications of defects and anomalies, and recommendations for improvements and enhancements.

Engage in professional development to maintain technical proficiency in current and emerging technologies.

Utilize expertise to define strategic direction in assigned areas.

Mentor junior engineers.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors Degree degree and 5-8 years of relevant experience OR Masters degree and 3-6 years of relevant experience OR High School and 13 - 16 years of relevant experience

Degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related field.

Experience commensurate with applicable level that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Experience using Azure, Azure Dev Ops, Ansible, GitHub Enterprise or other Cloud or CI/CD platforms as applicable.

Experience with source control such as git.

Experience with agile development methodologies.

Working knowledge of development and scripting languages to include: (C#.NET, Powershell, Ansible, bash scripting YAML, etc.).Preferred Experience:

Microsoft Server Certification, Azure Administration Certification.

Experience using Jira or similar tool.

Job Information:

PR0300: Salary Grade 210 ($95,928 - $158,232) / PR0400: Salary Grade 220 ($110,316 - $181,956)
