Seeking a full-time night shift RN or LPN to care for my husband in our home.
He is a stable and functioning at C4 quadriplegic, but still considered an acute care patient. He has a colostomy, suprapubic catheter, lung and some Autonomic dysreflexia issues. We are looking for the right person who would fit in with our family. He is active, he is a hunter, fisher,and generally likes the outdoors. He has two lap dogs that mean the world to him.
We are looking for an attention to detail type of person, that can act quickly when need be. Must be able to take one glance and know when something is not right. He has only been hospitalize once since his injury. This is a testimony to the quality of care he has been given. We stay on top of it, and try to avoid hospitals at all cost.too many sick people there!
Must have a sense of humor, as he loves to joke and kid around and push the occasional button. If he is not joking with you or giving you a bad time, you know there is something wrong.
General duties include:
Getting up and in chair in the mornings.
Transferring for showering and positioning in wheelchairs.
Dressing,
Oral care
Respiratory treatments
Peri care
Catheter changing and flushing if needed
Skin checks
Medications
Charting
Med and supply inventory
Light housekeeping to include:
His laundry
Dusting - Very important to his lungs, as he has allergies.
General pick up and organizing of his things, supplies, meds.
Some cooking of his meals.
Insurance needs:
Must be willing to drive his van and be fully insured.
Must carry Liability insurance.( Runs around $350 a year.)
In General:
Our day shift and night shift nurses have aids to help transfer. He is a two person transfer, for safety reasons. We have an overhead lift that makes if very easy for transferring.
Spinal Cord Injury care a plus, but not necessary. We are willing to train the right person. Must be a quick learner, quick to action, able to take care directive from patient and love his dogs as much as he does.
12 hour shift, 7am-7pm, six days on, eight days off, with some fill in. $50 per hour.
You will be a W9 contract employee. Payment comes from our Workers Comp Insurance Company (private not state). You are responsible for your own taxes. You are considered self employed.
My husband is very easy going, pleasant to be around and just generally a very good guy. Our average employment with nurses are 5+ years. Our long term employee is going on 8+ years. We are a close knit, small team and provide a wonderful work environment. We are defiantly looking for a long term loyal employee.
