This position will schedule, oversee irrigation activities, and irrigate by surface and sprinkler systems. Perform maintenance on irrigation equipment. Keep accurate records. Operate farm equipment to prepare seed beds, plant, cultivate, spray, and harvest field crops in support of research. Maintain farm machinery, buildings and grounds. Assist with field days or other events for the public and stakeholders. Contribute to team effort by creating a work environment that emphasizes teamwork and safety.Minimum Qualifications:

Experience and demonstrated ability using sprinkler and surface irrigation systems. Experience in operation of farm implements for tillage, planting, spraying, cultivation, and harvest. Experience in maintenance of irrigation equipment and a variety of diesel and gasoline-powered farm equipment. Must possess: Valid Idaho Class A Commercial Drivers License or ability/willingness to obtain one within three months.Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Associate degree in agricultural related field. Experience: Five years in surface and sprinkler irrigation and irrigation scheduling; three years in seed production or conditioning. Experience in: Managing limited water supply, coordinating and facilitating irrigation schedules to meet varying needs of research projects, crops, and farm manager. Ability to: Keep complete and accurate records; perform computer record-keeping skills. Knowledge of: Farm chemicals and their use. Possess: Private Applicators License or Professional Applicators License and Chemigation License, or be willing to obtain one within 6 months.Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Must be able to work odd and irregular hours, including occasional weekends or holidays. Must be able to drive a University vehicle and pass a drivers record check. Ability: To carry or lift material of approximately 80 pounds and perform extensive manual labor.
