The Civil or Geotechnical Engineer in this position will be responsible for conducting field investigations, managing various laboratory testing programs and subsequent earth material characterization, and analyzing and designing a variety of structures and facilities using analytic tools, models, and software, including AutoCAD©. The position requires superior communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to organize and analyze a variety of information to be used for decision making, and the ability to meet multiple deadlines. An employee in this position is expected to work as a member of diverse project teams and accomplish specific tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Position Requirements:

Education Requirement: A Bachelors degree in civil or geotechnical engineering; a Masters degree is preferred. Candidate must also have a minimum of an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification and be actively working to become a Professional Engineer (P.E.).

Experience Requirement: A minimum of at least three years of progressively increasing engineering experience.

Software: Position requires applicant to have working knowledge of Microsoft Office© software including Microsoft Access (or equivalent) and Autodesk Civil 3D AutoCAD©. Working knowledge of numerical modeling software is advantageous.

Potential Travel: Travel to project sites located in the Western US, and elsewhere, both domestic and international.

Job Location: Missoula, Montana.

Physical Demands: Position requires sitting/standing for long periods of time, extended hours working on a computer and lifting up to 30 pounds. Field assignments can be located in a variety of environments and cultures, including difficult and diverse climates. During field assignments, standing, squatting, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds may be required over prolonged periods of time.

Primary Duties:

- Supporting large engineering design projects and leading small engineering design projects including, development of drawing sets, technical specifications, design reports, technical memoranda, project manuals, and performing contract administration tasks.

- Providing support and/or supervision for geotechnical and environmental investigations/studies, including planning, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting aspects.

- Interpreting engineering and environmental data, that may include air quality, soil, geotechnical/rock, groundwater, and surface water;

- Participating in NewFields projects acquired and managed by others, as needed; and,

- Successful on-time completion of quality technical products under your supervision, measured by internal or external client satisfaction.
