Job Summary

The primary purpose of your job position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dietary Manager, to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.

Job Responsibilities

The Cook assumes daily responsibility in the following areas:

1. Prepare resident meals in accordance with planned menus following sanitary regulations and established policy.

2. Prepare and plate meals that have palatable and appetizing in appearance; maintaining proper portion control.

3. Prepare all resident meals in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.

4. Prepare and serve when necessary midday and evening snacks for residents that choose to have them.

5. Prepare substitute meal choices for any residents who would prefer an alternate meal choice.

6. Ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.

7. Prepare meals in a timely manner, ensuring that meals arrive to the resident hot and ready to be eaten.

8. Prepare meals in a manner that would be respected in any fine dining environment, treating each resident I such a way that they feel they are receiving great customer service.

9. Assist in cleaning the kitchen and dining areas, for example, doing dishes, cleaning counter tops, or cleaning up the dining area after meals.

10. Follow all safety protocols and policies carefully.

11. Other tasks, duties or projects as assigned.

Essential Qualifications (Level 1)

1. Ability to think and work independently or under the direction of the Dietary Manager, and communicate effective with other team members.

2. Possess all necessary food handler permits issued by the Health Department or as otherwise required.

3. High School graduate or equivalent
