The Manufacturing/Operations Sup/Mgr (Throughput Manager) reports directly to the Sr. Plant Manager and supports the Operations Supervisors responsible for leading operators (CNC, Milling, 5 axis, 3 axis, EDM and Radius & Prep) in a nonunion aerospace facility, which will flex between two facilities in Bloomingdale and Glendale Heights, IL. The position has critical areas of responsibility for delivering throughput to meet our increasing customer demand by planning, managing production and addressing any and all issues that stop key machines from running throughout the shift. This role partners with cross-functional departments to deliver against key performance metrics across safety, quality, delivery and cost while communicating operations status, issues, and improvements. The successful candidate is energetic, and success driven with deep technical expertise. They will have exemplary leadership, team building, problem solving, and time management skills and serve as a role model and leader to peers and subordinates. The Throughput Manager is a CRITICAL player in the success of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the activities of the operational team to ensure Throughput and FLOW throughout the production process.
  • Support supervisors to ensure customer’s orders are delivered in accordance with expected due dates.
  • Motivate, coach, and lead the operations team to Focus high quality production with a high level of urgency to deliver on-time, consistently.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership identifying any barriers to success or issues occurring in production, maintenance, or quality that inhibits On-Time-Delivery.
  • Actively evaluate and make recommendations for improvements to the operation to maximize Throughput while maintaining a focus on minimizing operating expenses.
  • Lead by example with regard to, safety programs and processes ensuring an operating culture focused on “Safety First”. Take ownership of safety for the operation and drive safety improvements.
  • Drive high quality through all operational processes by determining root causes, eliminating process issues, and being accountable to results.
  • Assess and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive execution of Velocity Scheduling System and implement a system of continuous improvement constantly striving to improve results.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.

Qualifications and Education Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (engineering or operations preferred). An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
  • Minimum 4 years manufacturing experience in tight tolerance production.
  • Minimum 4 years CNC experience with 5 axis and/or 3 axis and surface grinding required.
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated maintenance, engineering, or combination of experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous improvement resulting in increased throughput and profitability.
  • Significant experience in the following: A proven track record of success in a leadership operations role, stable work history, implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and processes including Theory of Constraints, and the ability to lead and develop a productive workforce.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage and coach employees, administer discipline and manage employee performance.
  • Strong math skills to solve problems.
  • Must be able to measure parts within tight tolerances. Must be able to read indicators and use measuring tools such as caliper, micrometer, gauges.
  • Ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Ability to read directions, prints, schematics and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English for customer, job and equipment specifications.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Must be able to use a computer, Microsoft Office and programs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience EDM or wire/electrode EDM, preferred.
  • 5S standards experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working in aerospace manufacturing industry.
