Hours are 8:15am to 3:15 pm. About Our SchoolWith a recently opened 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art building addition in Bloomingdale, Marklund’s Day School is hiring dedicated and caring Paraprofessionals to work with students within its Life Skills/Autism and multi-needs programs. Marklund Day School is a well-known and respected nonpublic school serving students ages Pre K-22 who come to our school’s program through partnerships with various Chicago suburban school districts. Marklund Day school provides an environment conducive to learning through specialized curriculum, positive behavioral interventions, and individualized student support. Our highly sensory-driven program features physical and occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, art and music therapy, Snoezelen therapy, computer adapted technology, community programs and opportunities, recreational therapy, aquatic therapy and more. Summary of Duties:Assist teachers with classwork and the daily care of students with special needs:
Works with the nursing staff and teacher to meet needs of the students.
Maintains open communication with the teacher regarding any issues i.e. client, classroom issues.
Provide direct care, attend In-services and other educational functions as required.
Follows classroom schedule under guidance of teacher. Provide safe physical environment for all students.
Keeps equipment in classroom in clean condition following direction of teacher.
Documents all goals/program which includes the daily participation records after completion of a task with a student
Works directly with the students one-on-one and in groups outlined in the IEP’s following the teacher’s lesson plan and with teacher direction.
