Responsibilities

Internal Audit is looking for results driven individual contributors who will excel in a high initiative and high influence environment! The role offers broad exposure to internal business partners through the executive leadership level. The ability to understand how our Enterprise technology and data strategies work together with our business processes to understand and evaluate risk is required to be successful. The right candidate must have strong technical skills and the ability to apply those skills to implement technology and data solutions.

A Day in the life of a Data Developer:

• The Data Developer will join a talented agile team of peers responsible for developing data-driven solutions to continuously improve Internal Audit's efforts to understand and evaluate risk.• The Data Developer applies an understanding of data tools, practices, applications, programming languages and environments to assignments.• The Data Developer incorporates Enterprise data and technology standards and best practices to complete project-based and ad hoc assignments and influence the department's direction of product solutions.• This Data Developer stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and programming languages to continuously renew our tooling and automation solutions.• Occasional travel may be required to State Farm corporate & hub locations per business need for team or relationship building (>5%).

Qualifications

Required Professional Experience:

• Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc)• Demonstrated ability to develop mainframe solutions. Knowledge of SAS, JCL, Dialog Management Service (DMS) - e.g., developing CLIST/REXX, SPF Panels and Skeletons - as well as familiarity with legacy applications also a plus.• Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Business, or related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered)• Exceptional collaboration skills to work with other team members, leveraging each member's areas of expertise.• Experience partnering with stakeholders to gather business requirements and seeking out relevant data sources (internal and external).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated commitment to learning new technology/processes and programming languages.• Experience with the full software development lifecycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset.• Knowledge of SQL, Python, Cloud (AWS) and big data-related technologies.• A process-oriented individual who has the flexibility to thrive in a dynamic organization.

Incumbency:This position will have a 12-month incumbency period, beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Employees may be considered for leadership or Technology Engineer openings at any time, and a promotional position within the same job structure (i.e. Professional/Technical or Para-professional/Support) after 6 months from the effective date of the position. In these cases, the remaining incumbency would be waived. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.
