Responsibilities

Enterprise Technology (ET) is looking for 2 Software Engineers to join the Life Accounting, Tax, and Reserves product team. You will work closely with business partners to develop, test, implement, and support creative solutions for State Farm's Life company operations which entails over 8 million policies in force.

The team is an agile team that owns and supports State Farm's Life company processing of accounting transactions, income tax and premium tax reporting at both the state and federal levels, and the reserving process of the Life company policies.

This work includes the processing of data necessary to file various returns with regulatory bodies and servicing transactions needed for the insured or policyowner.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes up-to-date coding, testing, security, DevOps, and software engineering practices to maintain and create new applications that support that support State Farms Life Company operations in the areas of Life Reserves, Life Tax processing or anti money laundering.
  • Collects and analyzes information to identify customer's technical needs, suggest solutions and develop implementation and integration plans.
  • Responsible for the analysis, design, deployment, support and security of technology to ensure the organization is efficiently managing its technology and data-related assets in accordance with market best practices and external regulations.
  • Exhibits DevOps and Agile mindset where team is accountable for product from inception to sunset.
  • Possessed an understanding of User Experience practices to improve suability and interaction between the customer and product
  • Applies a wide application of complex principles, theories and concepts in computer science for software engineering solutions.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, team collaboration skills and a desire to learn
  • Experience with mainframe and programming including COBOL and JCL

Additional Preferred Skills include:
  • Assembler
  • SAS
  • AWS Services
