Humane Society of Central Illinois is seeking a part-time adoption counselor to pair potential adopters with available pets. Office administration duties included. Saturday and evening hours required. Customer service-minded skills/personality required and animal experience preferred, but not required.
Duties include:
Provide potential adopters accurate information regarding animal temperament, behavior, age, breed, etc.
Assist potential adopters in the adoption process including the completion of adoption applications.
Review and approve adoption applications, in accordance with adoption policies.
Assist callers with information and contact veterinary clinics.
Accurate data entries into Shelter software to update, input, and compile data.
Filing and preparing paper document for electronic storage
Promote positive relationships with guests, volunteers and staff while promoting the humane society’s programs, policies and philosophies.
Hours (Hours are set. No adjustments.):
Tuesday - noon – 7pm,
Wednesday through Friday - 11 am – 6pm
Saturday - 10:30am – 4pm.
Average of 31 hours per week.
Additional Requirements:
High school graduate/equivalent or above.
Previous customer service experience required.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time.
Must be able to control dogs (including large dogs) while on a leash.
Must be able to push or pull at least 50 pounds for situations of restraining or moving animals.
Proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word/Excel
Valid Driver’s License
Comfortable with handling dogs, cats, and small animals (rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc.)
