Represent a strong ethical company in our Cary, Illinois office as an Assistant Safety Manager. Be a part of the Schnabel team! This position reports directly to the Safety Director.

As an Assistant Safety Manager…

Work in a team environment to oversee and make decisions related to project safety, health and environmental policies such as:

  • Job site visits to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials

  • Evaluate, recommend and implement safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees

  • Research and implement new materials handling processes

  • Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts

  • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.)

  • Research regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance

  • Track incident metrics and apply findings

  • Lead injury and incident investigations and evaluations

  • Create Job Hazard Analyses for project specific tasks, review them with the project team and make any necessary changes as needed before or during work activities

  • Substantial amount of travel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Safety Science
  • 3-5years’ experience in the construction industry

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and EPA standards with regard to construction

  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members

  • Travel required (75 percent)

  • Self-motivated, great time management skills, strong work ethic, and business integrity
