Join Our Team!Represent a strong ethical company in our Cary, Illinois office as an Assistant Safety Manager. Be a part of the Schnabel team! This position reports directly to the Safety Director.
As an Assistant Safety Manager…Work in a team environment to oversee and make decisions related to project safety, health and environmental policies such as:
Job site visits to conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment and materials
Evaluate, recommend and implement safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees
Research and implement new materials handling processes
Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies based on available facts
Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees
Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.)
Research regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance
Track incident metrics and apply findings
Lead injury and incident investigations and evaluations
Create Job Hazard Analyses for project specific tasks, review them with the project team and make any necessary changes as needed before or during work activities
Substantial amount of travel
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Safety Science
3-5years’ experience in the construction industry
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and EPA standards with regard to construction
Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
Travel required (75 percent)
- Self-motivated, great time management skills, strong work ethic, and business integrity
