TITLE: LINUX ENGINEER
Location: Chicago, IL; Des Moines, IA Compensation Range : $135k - $150k + bonus An established financial firm is seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to be an integral part of a growing global team responsible for automated provisioning, configuration management, and troubleshooting of several Linux flavors across the company's infrastructure. The Linux Engineer will work within the core IT groups designing and maintaining infrastructure services central to company infrastructure and external business units enabling quants, researchers, and high-performance, low-latency trading platforms on-prem and co-located in the Exchanges. The role has a strong focus on standardization of system performance and optimization of bare metal, on-prem virtual, and cloud instances. Excellent communication skills are required. Responsibilities- Linux OS engineering using SRE/DevOps methodologies
- Manage various research platforms for quantitative analysis
- Optimize and support HPC trading systems
- Troubleshoot complex storage, OS, and networking issues
- Build automated multi-tenant provisioning and configuration management of Linux systems
- Follow Linux best practices and engineering
- Enforce consistent standards of sound principles
- Collaborate with other teams and business units to use Linux software and services
- Monitor system performance and metrics, fine tuning systems for optimization
- 5+ years' experience as Linux Engineer, ideally with at least 2 years at the senior level
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, IaaC, and code review workflows
- Experience with Red Hat and Ubuntu flavors of Linux
- Experience with automated configuration management and orchestration tools - Ansible
- Jenkins experience
- SALT experience
- Python and shell scripting
- Experience with vSphere hypervisor and provisioning
- Solid understanding of Linux access mechanisms
- Sold understanding of networking and popular protocols
- Experience with Linux performance tuning and Kernel optimization nice to have
- Experience with fiber network cards, firmware and drivers, kernel bypass nice to have
- Experience with cloud provisioning services nice to have
