Microsoft Services Operations Engineer
The Microsoft Services Operations Team is looking for an Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience supporting day to day operations in a Microsoft infrastructure environment. Core responsibilities will be to maintain & support the Microsoft Windows Server platform. The engineer should possess a broad understanding of Windows technology (hardware & software) and its application in a business environmentRole Responsibilities: Engineer must have very good Windows Server administration/troubleshooting skills and effectively monitor and resolve SCOM alerts. Engineer will proactively work within the team on requests & incidents. Engineer will recommend hardware, software and configuration improvements, while managing a number of infrastructure related projects, upgrades, and day-to-day administrative "housekeeping" chores within the environment. Responsible for performing monthly Windows Server patching using Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and ensure all servers meet patching compliance each month. Provides third-level support for the End User Compute team, including working closely with the vendors to troubleshoot critical and complex production issues. Good network troubleshooting skills, to determine root cause of outages (desktop vs server vs network infrastructure) The role includes a shift-rota covering 7am 6pm. They will also be required to participate in the out of hours on-call roster (currently 1 week in 7).Person Specification: Ability / ExpertiseEssential: Windows Server OS administration & troubleshooting. Build, configure and support servers Server Patching troubleshoting skillsDesirable: Microsoft System Centre Operations Manager (SCOM) Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) Microsoft Remote Desktop Service/Remote App Build, configure and support servers in VMWare & Nutanix virtual infrastructure including DELL, HP & Cisco Blade physical hardware MS Exchange 2013/2016 Skype for Business / Teams MS SQL 2008R2/2012/2014/2016/2019 Azure MFA Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business Online, Intune MS SharePoint Scripting PowerShell, Batch Performance Criteria: Effective system support activities as measured by application and server up time, established service level agreements, and user satisfaction. Ability to complete assigned tasks on time. Ability to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Ability to research and address issues while following established procedures with a minimum amount of supervision. Effectiveness in identifying and improving standards, guidelines, policies and procedures within the infrastructure. Effective management of workload and assigned projects.
