Manager, Application Development - Chicago, IL - $140-150K plus bonus We are looking for a forward-thinking and innovative Manager, Application Development, to play an integral role as we make our way through an exciting digital transformation. As a highly collaborative member of our technology team, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations of a software development team, (developers and testers), and act as delivery manager coordinating technical work, dependencies and resources, plus communicating progress and impediments.If you’re passionate about software and people, join us as we re-imagine our platforms, products and processes, and help us navigate this exciting transformational effort!We’re looking for a results-oriented and proactive leader, who considers long-term trends and broad business implications when determining approach or recommending actions. Ideal candidates bring minimum 8+ years of overall technology experience, and background as a developer. Position requires track record of success leading development teams with direct reports and proven experience in a Delivery Manager capacity, coordinating efforts across multiple work streams and dependencies. Must bring deep knowledge of modern SDLC, work well with people at all levels, and understand the role that software has in driving business outcomes.Responsibilities:• Lead team of junior-senior level development/QA resources, including mentorship (technical and soft skills), career path definition, conducting weekly 1-1 sessions, performance reviews, daily work management.• Coordinate work efforts and dependencies across multiple delivery streams.• Constantly review processes within department, including Agile practices, and find ways to improve efficiency. Promote Agile practices within technology department as well as within organization.• Establish and enforce best practices in code control, code reviews, unit testing, DevOps, and cloud architecture across technical teams.• Work with QA and dev teams to establish proper automation/unit test strategy in order to improve software quality and reduce bottlenecks. • Daily operations, including serving as Scrum Master, ensuring that deliverables are produced on time, communicating status to various stakeholders such as PMO and Business teams, and helping teams resolve blockers.• Work effectively with members of cross-functional product development teams including Product Managers, Architects, Scrum Masters and Analysts on various sized projects and initiatives.Requirements:• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems.• 8+ years of overall technology experience; developer background is a must. Minimum 2 years of experience leading development teams with direct reports and 2+ years of experience in Delivery Manager capacity – coordinating efforts across multiple work streams and managing dependencies.• 6+ years experience with ASP.NET framework, including MVC.NET and C#. Proficiency with HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and experience in an MVC JS framework such as Angular.• Experience with services-based and message-based architectures, such as Web API and Azure queues.• Experience with cloud-based architecture and deployment.• Experience setting up continuous integration and deployment pipelines.• Experience with QA processes, specifically QA automation tools, such as Selenium, is strongly preferred. • Experience working in an Agile environment. Scrum Master experience highly preferred.• Strong technical and business aptitude.• Reliable, self-motivated, and focused on high quality delivery of work products; willing to accept responsibility and accountability.Essential Skills/Knowledge:• Ability to persuasively communicate complex concepts and programs across technical and non-technical audiences.• Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills. • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.• Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.• Strong technical aptitude.• Demonstrated business and stakeholder relationship building experience.• Significant communication skills in written and verbal formats; showcases clear and concise manner.
