PROJECT MANAGER

A Project Manager leads and manages the successful delivery of projects (large and small) through the entire project lifecycle that effectively solve our client’s business problems. This requires a demonstrated mix of balancing scope, time, cost, risk and quality control while maintaining a positive environment that promotes high performing teams and manages client relationships and expectations. A Project Manager has an expert understanding of project management approaches to managing complex; multi-phased projects to deliver integrated marketing campaigns. Additional responsibilities include defining a project approach, developing project plans, ensuring that profitability objectives are met, and identifying opportunities to grow current business engagements.

Primary Responsibilities

Creative

  • Provides business information at creative briefing including; timing, budget and legal issues
  • Responsible for ensuring all of the right people (Strategy, Production, Creative, etc.) are in the room for the creative brief ensuring the most efficient and effective solution is delivered to the client
  • Suggests how to bring new ideas to market
  • Gains support and ownership for ideas

Leadership

  • Creates a climate in which people can do their best and develops individuals to help them succeed
  • Provides ongoing training/mentoring to junior team members by engaging them in processes, meetings and deliverables
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the agency “team” as part of a positive mindset about the work, the client, and agency staff that in involved
  • Demonstrate unity behind team and agency decision-making
  • Participate in recruiting and retention activities, where applicable

Project Management

  • Manage & deliver large and small projects on-time and on budget simultaneously
  • Actively provide insight & direction to project teams into developing innovative solutions for clients as well as tactically managing the day to day project operations and communications
  • Independently & actively manage all aspects of the project: scope, issue/risks, schedule, budget, quality control, communications, team and client relationships on a daily basis
  • Lead the project team to accurately scope work and define/leverage the appropriate project delivery method per client assignment brief. Manage projects and teams to approved budgets
  • Work with Project Management Leadership to identify effective staffing for project needs and maximize the efficiency and optimization of the steam, where applicable
  • Establish and build professional relationships with clients and internal departments while ensuring ongoing client satisfaction. Balance focus of communication between building a client partnership and providing key client/internal stakeholders/decision makers with day-to-day project contact.
  • Work closely with the client and project team on an ongoing basis to ensure project deliverables are clearly defined, met, and understood. Oversee the development of project deliverables and ensure they are aligned with creative brief. Cleary represent the team’s consensus in all client communications
  • Lead, motivate and foster coordination/communication across project teams
  • Ensure project team consistently meet and/or exceed the client’s expectations and that client approves & sign-off on all major deliverables
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation: project plans, status reports/daily hot sheets, risk assessments, change requests, and resource requests

Operations

  • Proactively communicate with the agency project support teams: resource management, finance, and sourcing
  • Proactively provide thought leadership and participate in internal facing meetings and initiatives to build and contribute the delivery management practice e.g. ongoing improvement practices, knowledge sharing, etc.,
  • Responsible for the project administration such as project set-up, ongoing project financial analysis, time and expense approval, daily hot sheets, project tools, and client billing/invoicing approval
  • Contribute to client required financial reporting e.g. scope & labor reconciliation

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of project management experience in managing multi-phased, complex marketing campaigns
  • Successfully managed large and small projects simultaneously in a marketing agency
  • Expert knowledge of project management principles, methods & techniques: scope management, project planning, financial (budgeting, forecasting, tracking, reporting)
  • Experience managing multiple tracks of a project as an integrated program, with differing timelines, deliverables and expectations
  • Ability to effectively balance longer-term strategic issues with day-to-day tactical project issues.
  • Experience leading and motivating a cross-functional project team within budget and schedule constrains while meeting or exceeding client’s expectations
  • Experience managing both print (POP), digital projects (dynamic landing pages, social, animated banners), and :30-:60 Video (educational)
  • Working knowledge of MS Project (or other PPM tools) and Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized, flexible, ability to adapt to unique situations and projects; able to thrive in changing, dynamic environment
  • Professional, high degree of diplomacy and business acumen
  • Stays abreast of industry, client and category trends
