Job Description

As a Project Manager you will engagewith the largest high-growth, high-volume Shopify Plus merchants onmedium to long term project deliveries. These project deliveries are focused on achieving a defined list of desired outcomes for a merchant, but are primarily related to executing on showcase project opportunities for innovative merchants pushing the boundaries of commerce on our platform. Projects will be performed by a cross-functional team incorporating partner resources where necessary.

As a Project Manager you willensure that projects are delivered successfully, and that merchant expectations are managed and met. Projects offer Shopify a terrific opportunity to extract learnings, apply and stretch the applications of our platform and showcase the power of Shopify in collaboration with the most complex and innovative merchants. The role requires an individual who can find successful paths and work flows to ensure that projects operate as successful partnerships. While the role is primarily merchant facing, the Project Manager will also be responsible for overseeing the internal cross-functional teams.

Your responsibilities:

  • Initiating, planning and working with leadership and others to identify and resource projects through cross-functional teams and Partners
  • Project Management of the project from initiation to completion using industry best practices, including Agile, Lean and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Working with Project Delivery Coordinators and leadership to populate required legal documents in order to initiate project work
  • Ensuring that merchant requirements are dutifully documented and adhered to throughout the course of the project, avoiding scope creep and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Development and maintenance of project documentation and templates through the use of the tool Asana, or similar
  • Continuously improve our methodology and approach to projects.
  • Track, and report on project progress, hurdles requiring escalation, team capacity and resource allocation
  • Providing project and ecommerce expertise through sharing Shopify best practices and industry trends
  • Building relationships at multiple levels within a merchant’s organization to fully understand their business and the merchant’s approach to commerce innovation
  • Opportunistically grow a service catalog to address unmet needs; influenced through merchant context via service engagements, platform growth and change, and merchant segment changes
  • Supporting, influencing, engaging in and creating content for community events preparation

Qualifications

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience successfully managing cross functional projects and teams, particularly in software development and deployment
  • Experience engaging with technical and non-technical merchant stakeholders to capture requirements and desired outcomes, while managing expectations and protecting Shopify’s interests
  • Experienced in Agile and Scrum methodologies; PMP or PMI-ACP certification (or similar) is an asset, but not required
  • Ability to manage budgets when leveraging Partner resources, and/or resource allocation of internal teams
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills to communicate merchant feedback for multiple audiences and all levels of leadership
  • You can take a consultative approach and apply flexible discovery techniques; proven ability to establish yourself as a trusted advisor who prioritizes the merchant experience
  • Ability to managed multiple projects simultaneously alongside internal needs, such as development of documentation, templates and project delivery techniques
  • Potential travel throughout North America to on-site meetings
