Job Description

The

Responsibilities:

  • Provides imaging services to assist in diagnosis or treatment of inpatients and or outpatients.
  • Performs radiographic and related procedures to demonstrate vascular structures for interpretation and or therapeutic interventional by or at the request of a license practitioner.
  • Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics.
  • Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient's conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures.
  • Services are provided in accordance with industry standards, department protocols, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs interventional imaging procedures.
  • Evaluates the request for radiographic service and assesses the patient to determine the appropriate procedure protocol and method of application.
  • Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepare patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Operate imaging equipment and accessories.
  • Select appropriate program for desired protocol.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Appropriately employs imaging systems, accessory devices, and patient positioning techniques to generate interventional imaging images.
  • Cares for the patient throughout the procedure according to department and hospital standards of nursing care, age-specific sensitivities, and "patients' first" guidelines.
  • Participate in lifting and transporting patients to and from imaging devices.
  • Evaluate the resultant images in comparison with industry standard (Merrills' Atlas of Roentgenographic Positions) and takes corrective action if needed.
  • Provide patient education in the form of written material and/or verbal explanation prior to, during, and subsequent to the procedure in order to reduce the patient's anxiety and enhance his/her comfort with and tolerance of the procedure.
  • Perform imaging procedures in accordance with safe radiation safety practices as determined by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to limit radiation exposure to patient, self, and other members of the healthcare team.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current Illinois licensed
  • Current ARRT registry in radiography
  • Current AHA BLS Provider Certification
  • Graduation from an accredited radiography program with 1 year Interventional Imaging experience.

Preferred:

  • Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology.
  • Graduation from an accredited radiography program Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 or more years Interventional Imaging experience.
