We have partnered with a global leader in business travel technology seeking a
Senior Full Stack Software Engineer - Java / Spring Boot / React - to join and help lead a team/project in supporting existing services for a brand-new web application build. This role will be 70% backend / 30% front-end and will help drive process and guide other developers in Java and React.The ideal candidate will have strong full stack development skills and experience in Java/Spring Boot, with recent hands-on front-end/React and any end-to-end, long-term full stack web applications. A large part of this role will be leading a team/project, and candidates should have lead/mentorship experience, including design and code reviews.PRIMARY RESONSIBILITIES:- Take a whole systems approach to analyze use cases, design, implement and maintain integrated solutions applying standard engineering methodologies.
- Successfully conduct day-to-day activities and solve complex issues in your engineering domain.
- Research and recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns.
- Creatively test and maintain software applications and related systems using a variety of software development tools.
- Lead and participate in design and code reviews.
- Partner with Product to refine business requirements.
- Collaborate with peers across regions, within and outside your direct organization.
- Seek and share domain and industry knowledge between multi-functional teams to improve engineering practices.
- Possess knowledge of features and facilities for integration, and communication among applications, databases, and platforms to connect different components and form a fully functional solution to a business problem.
- Advocate operational excellence and project quality via system resilience and scalability, testing, monitoring, alerting.
- Report on status of high-visibility projects to leadership.
- Enthusiastically seek opportunities to improve our customers' experiences.
- Guide other engineers in design of software that is easily maintainable, testable, and observable.
- 7+ years of Full Stack Development experience in Java / Spring Boot with solid, recent Front-end Development experience in React.
- Demonstrated mentor/lead experience, including design and code reviews.
- If a candidate does not have lead experience but has solid technical skills (full stack Java, React), they should show a willingness and ability to guide other developers, to drive process, be a proactive communicator, and get things done.
- The schedule is hybrid remote/onsite, with 1-2 days a week in the downtown Chicago office.
- All candidates must be within commuting range of Chicago.
