- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience is required.
- Experience leading and working collaboratively within and across technical teams.
- A minimum of 4 years of technical experience, providing support and administration for storage and virtualization technologies including Vmware, DellEMC Unity, DataDomain, Isilon, Avamar, Hyperconverged, Box and other enterprise platforms.
- Professional experience implementing and administering data protection solutions.
- Lead day to day operations for the Storage and Virtualization Team including running team meetings, managing tickets and project related work.
- Report regular updates to leadership on team efforts and projects.
- Supervise and participate in team related work including, install, configure, and maintain storage systems and utility software using best practices and professional standards.
- Lead team in making sure proper ITIL disciplines are followed including procedures for storage change, task, and incident management.
- Conducting and participating in meetings with presentation of professional grade deliverables such as technical architecture documents, technical drawings, and proposals.
- Be escalation point for all storage and virtualization related issues.
- Initiates and maintains relationships with internal and external partners related to storage and virtualization efforts including campus IT partners and technology vendors.
- Work with leadership on the development of long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for storage and virtualization technologies to further support business objectives.
- Maintain awareness of current and emerging tools, forces, trends, techniques, and products in industry and how they could support research, teaching and learning.
- Develop and maintains procedures for storage and virtualization administration including lifecycle management, data protection, patch management and security vulnerability remediation.
- Assist in budgeting operating and capital expenses.
- Manage the purchase, installation, and configuration of new and existing storage devices and corresponding software.
- Responsible for creating technical reference architectures and maintaining team knowledge base documentation.
- Analyze storage systems performance and capacity, verifying best practices and security standards are followed.
- Develop and maintain the service catalog with all the options available to our customers with related cost.
- Assist the director with providing the staff with performance feedback.
- Participate in on-call rotation
