Position Title: Production support Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL, Ann Arbor, MI or Omaha, NE or JErsey City, NJ or Southlake, TX or DFW area

Job description:Production Support System Engineer will be focusing on the application support side, must be familiar with supporting Java applications but also have experience in a Linux environment. Must be someone with the ability to learn quickly and be a self-starter - who is eager to learn and grow.

Responsibilities:

Monitor both external & internal facing applications and provide quick response to alerts, escalations, and all production incidents Triage alerts & diagnose/resolve critical issues, manage implementation of changes Take ownership of operational issues and perform both short-term resolutions, and develop preventive measures for the longer term while maintaining a Tech backlog Identify opportunities and solve unique operations problems on a large enterprise and mission critical applications Create scripts to automate operational tasks & incorporate the solutions into infrastructure

Additional Job Details:

Requirements: 5+ years of experience of enterprise level production support. 5+ years of systems administration, monitoring, and deployment activities Strong Linux sysadmin skills, the shell is your best friend Experience in writing automation scripts, building application dashboards for proactive monitoring, setting up Alerts for early determination of the issues Experience using AppDynamics, Grafana & Splunk to monitor and analyze system health Experience in creating custom shell scripts in BASH Experience with Atlassian Tool Stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and its role in Agile methodologies Be available for On-Call support and limited evening work

Helpful Skills:

Knowledge of distributed systems and messaging architectures is a plus. Ability to work well under pressure in production support situations with limited supervision Strong customer orientation with an affinity to proactively own, communicate, and follow-through projects and issues Extreme sense of ownership to resolve problems in a distributed environment Gritty resolve to dig deeper into technical issues in a complex trading Eco-system A self-starter with the ability and confidence to independently resolve issues and bring results back to the team. Environment challenges - learning on the fly, ever-changing environment, intense first few months due to acquisition with the hand-over from other teams.
